Peter again denied it.
John 18:26-27, One of the servants of the high priest, a relative of the man whose ear Peter had cut off, asked, “Did I not see you in the garden with him?” Peter again denied it, and at once a rooster crowed.
Peter had, like many of us, declared his devotion to Jesus to follow him even if it meant death. I’m so glad Peter was there, for he shows us how limited our own ability is and why we need the Holy Spirit of God. For a few months later, Peter would boldly proclaim His faith in Jesus as the resurrected Christ and ultimately go to a cross for his faith. We easily come to the end of our own strength which is why He has sent the Holy Spirit to guide, inspire and convict us!
Come, Holy Spirit, guide us; pour out Your gifts that we may bring glory to God boldly proclaiming the name of Jesus!
