Father, glorify Your name!
John 12:27-28, Now is my soul troubled. And what shall I say? ‘Father, save me from this hour’? But for this purpose I have come to this hour. Father, glorify your name.” Then a voice came from heaven: “I have glorified it, and I will glorify it again.”
Jesus, Son of God, knew His divine purpose and the “joy set before Him” to become our perfect Passover sacrifice, the just for the unjust, death to bring us life. And Jesus, Son of man, sinless and without spot or blemish was troubled in soul. He had every opportunity all the way to His death to call for mighty Angels to rescue Him, just as He did when first tempted in the wilderness. He came to bring glory to the Father’s name, by the power of the Holy Spirit. He has sent this same Holy Spirit as we receive Jesus, to seal us. And best of all, He will not lose even one of His elect, those who are called to Him! No matter what happens, even though we suffer as He did, it is He who will carry us through. What amazing things does He have in store for us?
We put all of our trust in You, knowing that You who have begun a good work in us will be faithful to complete it! Fill us with Your Holy Spirit that we, too might bring glory to the Father’s name!
