Expensive ointment.
John 12:3, Mary therefore took a pound of expensive ointment made from pure nard, and anointed the feet of Jesus and wiped his feet with her hair. The house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume.
Christ came to us in humility, leaving His incredible glory to become one of us. There is nothing that we can bring to Him that would even approach His glory. Mary brings this expensive ointment to honor Jesus, and He also says that she will always be remembered for this wherever the gospel is preached! Her faithful act was also recognized by Him as an anointing for his impending burial, which they would not be able to bring because He is going to rise from the dead. How can we bring Him who has given us so much a sacrifice that honors Him and brings a sweet fragrance?
Show us how we can honor You as we bring You a sacrifice of praise for all You have done!
