“I am the bread of life.”

John 6:43-48, No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him. And I will raise him up on the last day. It is written in the Prophets, ‘And they will all be taught by God.’ Everyone who has heard and learned from the Father comes to me— not that anyone has seen the Father except he who is from God; he has seen the Father. Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes has eternal life. I am the bread of life.

Jesus makes it clear that we who believe in Him are drawn to Him by the Father. It is He who gives life to His word, who opens our eyes and unstops our ears, who breathes His Spirit into us and who raises us from spiritual death to His new life. He is the one who brings His word to life, who enables us to hear His word and calls forth faith. This leaves no room for pride, but only for thanksgiving. When tempted in the wilderness, Jesus proclaimed that we do not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. Now He has given us Himself as the bread of life to sustain our new life!

We thank You for the amazing feast that we have from You from the word, and from You as the living Word!
