Follow me.

Mark 8:34-36, And calling the crowd to him with his disciples, he said to them, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and the gospel’s will save it.”

Jesus is headed towards the cross and even though He has told his disciples they can’t imagine what lies ahead. They had clearly followed Him and yet most of them would desert Him in the darkest hour as He took up His own cross. But after He was raised from the dead these once fearful disciples would boldly take up their own cross, loving Him more than life. The same power and purpose that transformed them to be His witnesses is there for us today. There are many distractions in our world today, am I willing to deny myself and take up my cross and follow Him?

Fill us with Your Holy Spirit, that we may deny ourselves and take up our cross and follow You, Lord!
