Truly this man was the Son of God.

Mark 15:39, And when the centurion, who was standing right in front of Him, saw the way He breathed His last, he said, “Truly this man was the Son of God!”

All the men who had followed him had fled, except the women! This centurion had likely witnessed many crucifixions; something he saw about Jesus led him to proclaim Him as the Son of God. There was something about the way Jesus died that impressed him, the other gospels tell us that He proclaimed “It is finished,” and committed His spirit to the Father’s hands. We won’t know the true meaning of all of this until we come into His presence, but we do know that the centurion recognized His divinity. He is who He says He is!

Lord, we thank You for the testimony of this man, recorded for our benefit in scripture!
