"Crucify Him!"

Mark 15:12-14, And answering again, Pilate was saying to them, "Then what shall I do with Him whom you call the King of the Jews?" And they shouted back, "Crucify Him!" But Pilate was saying to them, "Why, what evil has He done?" But they shouted all the more, "Crucify Him!"

He who had no sin became sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God. Here we see a mob, incited by evil rulers, judged by an evil conqueror who clearly knew that Jesus was without guilt. There’s a tendency for us so far removed from this scene to think that we would have done better, but we know that we are no better in our fundamental nature. Had we been there, we would have joined in the cry "Crucify Him!" Fortunately, we have indeed heard His call, and while we stumble and fall, our hearts cry out to know Him even as we are known!

We cry "Abba, Father!" Come, Lord Jesus, we want to know You more and more each day.
