But he began to curse and swear.
Mark 14:70-71, But again he was denying it. And after a little while the bystanders were again saying to Peter, "Surely you are one of them, for you are a Galilean too." But he began to curse and swear, "I do not know this man you are talking about!"
Sadly, I can relate all to well to this scene. One of my teachers asks us "How do you bleed when you’re cut?" When we are really wounded, does the fruit of the Spirit emerge or something else? Peter was indeed full of himself, trusting in his own abilities, just like we are raised in our culture. Will it take something like Peter went through to know that we need help, that we need to claim the promise of His Holy Spirit?
Come, Holy Spirit, fill me that I might overflow with Your fruit even if I am wounded. "Father, forgive them for they know not what they do."
