As he had been accustomed to do for them.

Mark 15:7-8, And the man named Barabbas had been imprisoned with the insurrectionists who had committed murder in the insurrection. And the multitude went up and began asking him to do as he had been accustomed to do for them.

We know from this passage that the multitude, incited by the envious religious leaders, called for this murderous, insurrectionist to be released refusing Pilate’s offer to release Jesus. He not only died for this one murderer, but for all who have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Though not all have murdered, all by nature fall short of the glory God intended. He has restored to us, through His perfect sacrifice on the cross, adoption into His family. Indeed, He who had no sin became sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God.

We thank You that You were willing to endure the cross, for the gift of faith that saves us; let our lives demonstrate Your love to those around us!
