"He cannot save Himself."
Mark 15:29-31, And those passing by were hurling abuse at Him, wagging their heads, and saying, "Ha! You who are going to destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days, save Yourself, and come down from the cross!" In the same way the chief priests also, along with the scribes, were mocking Him among themselves and saying, "He saved others; He cannot save Himself."
We know that He had the power to call for help, and that He did not use it. He had set His face "like a flint" towards Jerusalem, even knowing that this horror awaited Him. He was not interested in saving Himself, but in saving all of us! He certainly could have saved Himself as He saved others; instead He chose to save us all.
We thank You that You loved us enough to pay the price to set us free from the power of sin and death, Lord Jesus.
