But He sent him away.

Luke 8:38-39, But the man from whom the demons had gone out was begging Him that he might accompany Him; but He sent him away, saying, "Return to your house and describe what great things God has done for you." And he went away, proclaiming throughout the whole city what great things Jesus had done for him.

We know that Peter had this same idea on the mount of transfiguration, for being in the presence of Jesus gave him the deep desire to stay there. We can feel the same way, and this story reminds us that there is a reason for us to return to the place where we can tell others what He has done for us. One day we will stand before His great throne of mercy and grace; what account will we give?

Give me Your boldness to declare what wonders You have done, to bring glory to Your name.
