And they began to be swamped and to be in danger.
Luke 8:23, But as they were sailing along He fell asleep; and a fierce gale of wind descended upon the lake, and they began to be swamped and to be in danger.
Looking back we can wonder how they could be so afraid, knowing that Jesus was there for a purpose, and having seen all that He could do. Nevertheless, the fierceness of the wind and the waves overwhelmed their senses, even when Jesus was there physically in the boat with them. We shouldn’t be surprised when we too are overwhelmed by what our senses tell us, even though we have Him interceding before the throne for us, and even though we have His Holy Spirit within. We have His promise that He will be with us no matter what happens.
Fill us with Your presence, and the certainty that You are there even in the rage of a storm!
