When you come together.
1 Corinthians 11:17, But in the following instructions I do not commend you, because when you come together it is not for the better but for the worse.
Paul was not afraid to challenge their practice in coming together to eat the Lord’s supper, for they had fallen into isolated castes, some eating sumptuously and others having nothing. When we come to Christ, we know that we all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. For there is nothing that we can bring to the cross; our best good works are but shabby rags in His presence. And in the Lord’s supper, we have the highest form of community, as those who remember His amazing sacrifice and His amazing grace towards each and every one of us. Are we celebrating all He has done for us?
How amazing is Your grace toward us, that You would love us enough to rescue us!
