Until He comes.
1 Corinthians 11:26, For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.
Jesus once walked on this earth announcing His kingdom, and ultimately dying for us on the cross, to set us free once and for all from the power of sin and death. As we take the Lord’s supper, we are to remember Him, even though He has been raised from the dead and is ascended to the throne of God. We publicly proclaim all that He has done, how He has cleansed us from all unrighteousness, washed us with His precious blood and made us members of His body. We eat the bread and drink the cup, remembering Him and proclaim all He has done for us. And we proclaim that He is risen indeed, in His body and that soon He will come again!
Come soon, Lord Jesus; use us to bring glory to Your name in the meantime!
