You will not be able to overthrow them.

Acts 5:38-40, So in the present case I tell you, keep away from these men and let them alone, for if this plan or this undertaking is of man, it will fail; but if it is of God, you will not be able to overthrow them. You might even be found opposing God!” So they took his advice, and when they had called in the apostles, they beat them and charged them not to speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go.

And after nearly two thousand years, the gospel still goes forth, for indeed it is not of man but of God. Despite the fierce opposition of many murderous despots, the good news of Christ has not been quenched, and has even flourished under the most horrific persecution. This observation came from the teacher of one of the most murderous opponents of the gospel, who met the risen Christ on the road to Damascus and became one of His most effective disciples. How amazing is the providence of God? Do we seek and receive the power that He makes available to us to preach and teach from house to house in His name?

We know our weaknesses without You; we seek Your power that Your gospel may go forth in our own day!
