In humility count others more significant than yourselves.
Philippians 2:3-9, Do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.
Jesus did what no man could do, in making Himself nothing, in counting others as more important than Himself, in laying aside His glory to take the form of a servant. On the night when He was betrayed, He took water and washed the feet of His disciples, taking up the role of the lowliest servant of His day. Our culture encourages us to be better than others, even to belittle them. Jesus asks us to consider others as better than ourselves, and to look out for them! The way of the cross is not the way of the world. Are we willing to be counted among those who serve in His name?
Forgive us our arrogance; help us to humbly count others more significant than ourselves.
