So that no human might boast.
1 Corinthians 1:27-31, But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong; God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are, so that no human being might boast in the presence of God. And because of him you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, righteousness and sanctification and redemption, so that, as it is written, “Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.”
The good news, the gospel, is that God has done what no man could ever do. He became weak, lived as one of us and ultimately died on a cross. To the world this is foolish and despised, for the strong survive and thrive. Natural man wants to be strong and famous; Jesus Christ came as a servant to all, freely laying His life down for those who will receive His gifts. For it is by grace that we are saved, through faith, and this is not of our own doing, it is the free gift of God, “lest any should boast.” And He did not remain in the grave, but rose to new life, which He freely offers to all who will receive Him! He has done it all, and all of my salvation depends upon His finished act on the cross. And even the strength to walk with Him is a gift from Him, for He freely gives the Holy Spirit to all who ask! Am I asking Him to work in me to day, to lay aside all boasting and to boast only in the Lord?
Thank You for all You have done for me; fill me with Your Spirit to bring all glory to the Lord!
