Not with words of eloquent wisdom.
1 Corinthians 1:17-19, For Christ did not send me to baptize but to preach the gospel, and not with words of eloquent wisdom, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power. For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. For it is written, “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and the discernment of the discerning I will thwart.”
There is more and more knowledge available to us every day, with new discoveries in science and technology abounding. Our faith in Christ is not without reason, for His death and resurrection was attested to by over five hundred eye witnesses, and in the cross we know that we have the same power of God that raised Jesus from the dead available to us. To the world, this is utter foolishness, but to we who are being saved it is the power of God. Are we able to lay aside our own pride and tell others the good news?
Give us the words of life that bring glory to Your name through the gospel of Christ!
