Jesus Christ and Him crucified.

1 Corinthians 2:1-5, And I, when I came to you, brothers, did not come proclaiming to you the testimony of God with lofty speech or wisdom. For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. And I was with you in weakness and in fear and much trembling, and my speech and my message were not in plausible words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, that your faith might not rest in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.

What if we took Paul’s advice seriously, for this makes it clear that he made a decision to know nothing except Jesus Christ and Him crucified. He certainly had knowledge of the scripture, and of the personal revelation of Jesus including things that he was not allowed to reveal. Perhaps we have, as a recent song says, laid our weapons down? We are given the sword of the spirit, which is the word of God, and we are given the promise that our Father will give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him. We are encouraged to be gentle and respectful with others, even as we are always prepared to make a defense for the hope that is within us. What if we took Paul’s advice and decided to know nothing among others except Jesus Christ and Him crucified?

Please show us Your way, and what it means to know nothing among other except Jesus Christ and Him crucified, O Lord!
