He abides in us.
1 John 3:23-24, And this is his commandment, that we believe in the name of his Son Jesus Christ and love one another, just as he has commanded us. Whoever keeps his commandments abides in God, and God in him. And by this we know that he abides in us, by the Spirit whom he has given us.
We tend to focus on our presumed list of things to do right, thinking that we will somehow make ourselves acceptable to Him. Yet even our faith itself is a gift from Him, and in Christ we are fully acceptable, fully justified before the throne of grace! We are to believe in Christ, and to love each other, and even the power to do this comes from God. How many times do we revert to our own strength, in a particular situation thinking that we can’t do anything about it, when we have Him living within us? Why not instead ask Him to do what is not possible for me to do?
We need You every moment; thank You that we need not lean on our own understanding but trust in You and Your promise never to leave us nor to forsake us! Guide our steps today.
