The world is passing away along with its desires.
1 John 2:15-17, Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride in possessions—is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.
We are easily distracted by the things of this world, and we either take for granted the blessings or else get upset when things don’t go our way. Jesus warns us in the parable of the sower, about the thistles that grow up and choke the word being the cares of this world. This week we got a reminder of the temporary and fragile nature of this world as our water heater ruptured and flooded part of our house. How wonderful that the place He has prepared for us is not affected by decay, moth or rust!
Help us to be good stewards with all that You give us in this life, and to let You reign as our sovereign!
