No condemnation!
Romans 8:1-3, There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death. For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do.
Paul has just finished his heart cry that even though we know what we want to do, there is at work within us a nature that wages war against what is good! A common complaint about people of faith is that they are hypocrites, behaving one way on Sunday and another way on Monday. And this criticism is supported by scripture, for “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” The good news comes to us who believe: the law condemns but the Spirit sets us free! For Christ came in the flesh and paid the penalty that we might be justified. And even better, we are given new life as we receive Him, and we can ask for His Spirit knowing that He is sure to give Him to us!
We thank You for setting us free from the law of sin and death; fill us with Your life giving Spirit that Your good gifts may bring glory to the Father!
