Let us fear.

Hebrews 3:19-4:3, And so we see that they were not able to enter because of unbelief. Therefore, let us fear lest, while a promise remains of entering His rest, any one of you should seem to have come short of it. For indeed we have had good news preached to us, just as they also; but the word they heard did not profit them, because it was not united by faith in those who heard. For we who have believed enter that rest, just as He has said, “As I swore in My wrath, they shall not enter My rest,” although His works were finished from the foundation of the world.

This is the good kind of fear, the one our parents taught us when crossing the street. It’s like a pastor friend once said, that his only fear was missing out on what God is doing in this community. We must join with the father who brought his demon possessed son to Jesus to be healed in crying out “I do believe; help my unbelief!” The word that we hear is able to help us by being united by faith, which is a gift from God, “not as a result of works, that no one should boast.” When we put our faith in Him, and rest in Him, He will move us into those good works that “God has prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.”

Thank You that when we believe in Your word united by faith that You are able to both give us Your rest and use us in Your amazing plan.
