Having canceled out the certificate of debt.

Colossians 2:13-14, And when you were dead in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made you alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our transgressions, having canceled out the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us and which was hostile to us; and He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.

When Jesus said “It is finished,” He meant exactly that. All of these declarations are made in the past tense, and they were made a long time ago. He opens the way by faith for us to turn from the ways of the world to Him as the perfect way. And the most amazing part is that in so doing He has to raise the dead; we are not even capable of taking the first step of faith without His amazing grace.
