To as many as received Him.

John 1:9-13, There was the true light which, coming into the world, enlightens every man. He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him. He came to His own, and those who were His own did not receive Him. But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name, who were born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

John makes it clear that even though He made the world and sustains all creation, His own did not receive Him. He wept over His own city seeking to gather them to Himself; and in the midst of incredible suffering from the cross He forgave those who did not receive Him. He calls to all of us with His love, and when we receive Him we are born of God’s will. Do we see others that we know in His light?

Remind us daily that our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the spiritual forces of this dark world. Let us bring Your light into the darkness that others may receive You!
