Our struggle is not against flesh and blood.

Ephesians 6:10-13, Finally, be strong in the Lord, and in the strength of His might. Put on the full armor of God, that you may be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore, take up the full armor of God, that you may be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm.

I have to constantly remind myself about the nature of our struggle in the face of evil actions by others. Such attacks may come even from those we love; scripture makes it clear that all (including myself) have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. I have no effective power in myself to combat this kind of evil; I have to rely totally on His full armor. And fortunately, He is well able both to defend me and to overcome evil.

We thank You that those who are with us are greater than those who are against us; clothe me today in Your full armor, that I may resist evil and stand firm in Your strength.
