The weak and worthless things.

Galatians 4:9, But now that you have come to know God, or rather to be known by God, how is it that you turn back again to the weak and worthless elemental things, to which you desire to be enslaved all over again?

Paul was of course addressing specific temptations of those believers. We all have been rescued from the slavery of darkness, as slaves of “those which by nature are no gods.” And we are all subject to temptation; how is it that we can so easily turn back to these weak and worthless things? He has the power that we need for living as His sons and daughters, which He has adopted us to be!
