Put Lazarus to death also.

John 12:9-10, But the chief priests took counsel that they might put Lazarus to death also; because on account of him many of the Jews were going away, and were believing in Jesus.

The very idea that the religious leaders were willing not only to seize and kill Jesus, but also to do the same to Lazarus is chilling. Jesus tells us that “even if one were to rise from the dead,” it would not be enough to open eyes blinded by sin. We know that we are all subject to this spiritual blindness, and it is only by the power of God and His marvelous gift of faith that we may be born into His new life and made into a “new creature.”

We thank You for opening our blind eyes, for new life in You, Lord Jesus; use us to open they eyes of others blinded by sin!
