He laid down His life for us.

1 John 3:16, We know love by this, that He laid down His life for us; and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.

This is one of my favorite verses; Jesus who came as a servant and willingly laid down His life for us demonstrated this kind of love. Our world recognizes the rich, beautiful and powerful and many lay down their lives for that recognition. He shows us the way of the servant, calling others to walk with Him. His way has certainly changed and impacted our world like no other; what could happen when we choose to follow Him, not seeking power as the world defines it, but instead seeking to be a servant?

Lord Jesus, we thank You for showing us Your way as a servant that we may walk in it.
