The interests of others.

Philippians 2:3-4, Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind let each of you regard one another as more important than himself; do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others.

We see amazing arrogance these days, with politicians raising their hands, pointing at others to accuse them of failing to respond to a huge natural disaster called hurricane Katrina, or posturing in some sort of congressional investigation or hearing. It’s good for all of us to remember that one day we will stand before the judge of the universe, when all conceit and selfishness will disappear. Are we sure what we will say before Him?

We have placed all our trust in Jesus Christ, who died to set us free; fill us with Your Holy Spirit that we may walk humbly in the good works You have laid out for us today, Lord.
