He kept exerting himself to rescue him.
Daniel 6:14-15, Then, as soon as the king heard this statement, he was deeply distressed and set his mind on delivering Daniel; and even until sunset he kept exerting himself to rescue him. Then these men came by agreement to the king and said to the king, "Recognize, O king, that it is a law of the Medes and Persians that no injunction or statute which the king establishes may be changed."
The king no doubt knew that he had been tricked, and that what was happening to Daniel was a conspiracy. Even so, the king could not undo what had been done, seemingly the worst thing that could happen. We know that there is a higher King, with purposes that go beyond our limited vision, to accomplish more than we can even imagine! When things seem to be in the worst possible way, we can rest in His promises and know that His plans are at work.
We have to put all our trust in You, that Your name will be glorified!
