Compassion from the God of heaven

Daniel 2:17-18, 24, Then Daniel went to his house and informed his friends, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah, about the matter, in order that they might request compassion from the God of heaven concerning this mystery, so that Daniel and his friends might not be destroyed with the rest of the wise men of Babylon. … Therefore, Daniel went in to Arioch, whom the king had appointed to destroy the wise men of Babylon; he went and spoke to him as follows: "Do not destroy the wise men of Babylon! Take me into the king’s presence, and I will declare the interpretation to the king."

There are many riches in this passage. Even though Daniel knew that God held the answers sought by the king, he went to his friends and they brought his request to the Lord in prayer. They knew Him as the Lord of all compassion, and indeed He supplied Daniel with the King's dream and its interpretation, and their lives were saved. Daniel recognized God's great compassion and gave Him glory by interceding for the wise me of Babylon; how many of us today would intercede for them?

Open our eyes to Your amazing compassion, to see how much You have done for us, that we might intercede for others that You bring our way.
