The work of God.
John 6:28-29, Then they said to him, “What must we do, to be doing the works of God?” Jesus answered them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent.”
In our fallen nature, we always want to know what we must do, seeking that “Stairway to Heaven.” Jesus makes it very clear that we are saved by faith, and that God has done all that our own work could never do; He asks us to believe, He calls us to “Come unto me,” to look to Him and be saved! This is simple enough for a child to understand and so simple adults do not wish to accept it. Softly and tenderly, Jesus is calling!
We thank You that by grace we are saved through faith, and this not of ourselves it is the gift of God, lest anyone should boast!
