This is the Son of God.
John 1:32-34, And John bore witness: “I saw the Spirit descend from heaven like a dove, and it remained on him. I myself did not know him, but he who sent me to baptize with water said to me, ‘He on whom you see the Spirit descend and remain, this is he who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.’ And I have seen and have borne witness that this is the Son of God.”
John recognized him by the word given to him, as the Holy Spirit of God descended and remained on Jesus. And by Luke’s account, we know that the Father spoke to confirm Jesus as the Son of God, “This is my beloved Son in whom I am will pleased.” How amazing that he was willing to humble himself, to be found in human form, and to be obedient even to death on a cross. As John later writes, “This is how we know what love is, Jesus Christ lay down his life for us!”
We thank you for loving us, for empowering us to walk in your light that others may know your love!
