The light of life.
John 8:12, Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
Naturally, the religious leaders who heard this tried to discredit Jesus, but he knew who he was, where he had come from and where he was going and stood with the testimony of his father. He offers us himself as our bread of life, offers himself as our living water and also as the light of life. We who have seen his light can walk in it. The world loves the darkness “because their works were evil.” We can stay in his light even when it illuminates our darkest areas we are confident that we can offer even that up to him. “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
Keep us walking in your light, O you who are the bread of life and who offer us living water to flow out of our hearts!
