Fishers of men.

Mark 1:16-17, Passing alongside the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew the brother of Simon casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen. And Jesus said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you become fishers of men.”

He calls us to be disciples who make disciples, to be winsome, filled with the joy of the Lord because of the good news: the gospel of Jesus Christ. These qualities, and many more, must have been present in our Lord as he called his own disciples. Are we following in his steps well enough that others might be attracted?

Pour out your spirit upon us that we may be winsome, joyful fishers of men!
