A desolate place.
Mark 1:34-35, And he healed many who were sick with various diseases, and cast out many demons. And he would not permit the demons to speak, because they knew him. And rising very early in the morning, while it was still dark, he departed and went out to a desolate place, and there he prayed.
We like to focus on the healings, the miracles, and the power that Jesus had that made him so famous that he could not come into a town but had to retreat into the wilderness. Perhaps we would do better to focus instead on his prayer life? If we put as much time into prayer as we do into some very meaningless things, what might happen? When we love someone, we want to spend time with them. Am I caught up in the cares of this world too much? Am I willing to cast all my cares upon the Lord, to lay all of my burdens down at his feet?
We want to know you better each day, to spend time with you, to lay our burdens down at your feet, O Lord!
