Unbelief and hardness of heart.

Mark 16:14, Afterward he appeared to the eleven themselves as they were reclining at table, and he rebuked them for their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they had not believed those who saw him after he had risen.

If the eleven disciples who walked with Jesus for three years, who ate with him, who witnessed his amazing life, ministry, teaching and miracle are subject to hardness of heart and unbelief, might we also be wary of the same trap? They had clearly heard, as they remembered afterwards, his message that he would be crucified, buried and raised on the third day. Yet they did not believe Mary, and they did not believe the two who met him on the road to Emmaus, who recognized him in the breaking of the bread. And he was seen, as Paul relates, by more than five-hundred witnesses, many who were still alive when he was writing. Where might our own hearts be hard?

Reveal to us any areas of unbelief; heal our own hardness of heart! “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!”
