Bear good fruit.

Luke 3:7-9, He therefore began saying to the multitudes who were going out to be baptized by him, “You brood of vipers, who warned you to flee from the wrath to come? Therefore bring forth fruits in keeping with repentance, and do not begin to say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham for our father,’ for I say to you that God is able from these stones to raise up children to Abraham. And also the axe is already laid at the root of the trees; every tree therefore that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.”

The concept of “user friendly” did not occur to John; he was not concerned about “church growth” in number, but in bringing the truth to those who heard. How easy it is to become comfortable, we need this reminder that we are to bear good fruit, as harsh as it may sound.

I want to be rooted in You, to be nourished by You, Lord, that I may bring forth good fruit!
