Bring forth fruit in keeping with repentance.

Matthew 3:8-10, “Therefore bring forth fruit in keeping with repentance; and do not suppose that you can say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham for our father’; for I say to you, that God is able from these stones to raise up children to Abraham. And the axe is already laid at the root of the trees; every tree therefore that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.”

There are those today who depend upon sitting in a church service, or being raised in a church going family for their salvation. John makes it clear that salvation is from the Lord, that we must each look unto Him to be saved. And our salvation is to bring a change of heart, that we might bring forth the fruit of His righteousness,

Come, Holy Spirit, fill us and bring Your conviction; empower us to walk in the light, to “bring forth fruit in keeping with repentance!”
