Acts 8:2-4, And some devout men buried Stephen, and made loud lamentation over him. But Saul began ravaging the church, entering house after house; and dragging off men and women, he would put them in prison. Therefore, those who had been scattered went about preaching the word.”

God’s purpose shines through the seeming disaster. Persecution isn’t something we seek out or want, and yet God obviously used this mechanism to spread His word. Stephen’s very death was a witness to Saul, who was soon to meet Jesus Christ on the road to extend the persecution to Damascus. God is sovereign; we don’t always see or like what He is doing. His word will not return to Him void!

We are amazed at what You do; that even when people intend evil, You are able to bring forth good! Help me to remember that You are in control in all my dealings with others today.
