The people held them in high esteem.
Acts 5:12-13, And at the hands of the apostles many signs and wonders were taking place among the people; and they were all with one accord in Solomon’s portico. But none of the rest dared to associate with them; however, the people held them in high esteem.
The early church was held in high esteem, even by the non-believers. It was marked by the leadership of the apostles, the many signs and wonders and the loving community. How does today’s church line up with this? In many cases, the church seems to be more interested in making sure we elect the right leaders in our country. Why not be subversive, as our Pastor recommended this week, and change the world one heart at a time? How many of us have a list of non-believers that we are praying for? How many believers even know a non-believer?
We seek to model Your early church, that You would be pleased to constantly add new believers to our number, O Lord!
