Each one hearing them speak in his own language.
Acts 2:5-6, Now there were Jews living in Jerusalem, devout men, from every nation under heaven. And when this sound occurred, the multitude came together, and were bewildered, because they were each one hearing them speak in his own language.
It’s amazing the controversy surrounding this amazing miracle has produced over the years. Later, after reviewing the marvelous promises of God, Peter makes it very clear that the promises are for “you and your children, and for all who are far off, as many as the Lord God shall call to Himself.” Clearly God had a purpose for the gospel to be heard, for ears to be unstopped and for the divinely imposed confusion of language to be lifted. He is able to do things that we consider impossible!
Lord, increase my faith; let me not impede what You want to accomplish!
