It is therefore necessary.

Acts 1:21-22, “It is therefore necessary that of the men who have accompanied us all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us— beginning with the baptism of John, until the day that He was taken up from us—one of these should become a witness with us of His resurrection.”

One of my teachers from years past observed that Jesus asked them to go and wait for power from on high, not go elect a replacement for the son of perdition! Scripture is of course silent on this point, but I have to wonder if I, like Peter, am not a little too quick to rush into action instead of simply waiting on the Lord?

Use my life for Your purposes, O Lord; help me to wait when You ask me to wait and to act when You ask me to act!
