The church that is in their house.
Romans 16:3-5a, Greet Prisca and Aquila, my fellow workers in Christ Jesus, who for my life risked their own necks, to whom not only do I give thanks, but also all the churches of the Gentiles; also greet the church that is in their house.
The concept of risking our own necks for the life of another is almost as remote as “the church that is in their house.” Fortunately, things are moving in that direction, as larger churches recognize that only in smaller gatherings can real growth and ministry take place. Our pastor acknowledged tonight that most of the hospital visits that have taken place over the last year were through home groups and never made it to the level of the paid “ministers.” Do we really see ourselves as ministers, paid only in the currency of the heart?
We thank You that we are laying up treasure that can never be taken away, and that where our “treasure is there will our heart be also.”
