They did not pursue it by faith, but as though it were by works.
Romans 9:30-32, What shall we say then? That Gentiles, who did not pursue righteousness, attained righteousness, even the righteousness which is by faith; but Israel, pursuing a law of righteousness, did not arrive at that law. Why?Because they did not pursue it by faith, but as though it were by works.
There are those who use this to look down on Israel, but we have this as a warning. It’s far too easy for us to become convinced of our own goodness, forgetting that without the blood of Christ, our own works of righteousness are like filthy rages before His throne. Are we truly committed to doing all that we do by faith, seeking to walk in His steps in humility to bring glory to God’s name?
Lord, I don’t want to miss those opportunities You give me today to bring glory to Your name; help me, for I am weak! Help me to listen and pray before speaking!
