Romans 9:16, So then it does not depend on the man who wills or the man who runs, but on God who has mercy.
As Americans, as “self-made” people, a nation dedicated to liberty and justice for all, to independence, we find this idea revolting. How could God choose one of the twin, Jacob, over the other Esau? How could he allow the younger to steal, with their mother’s help, the birthright that was hi? He allows it by His great mercy and justice; He wants us see that He is worthy of all glory, honor and praise!
Thank You that You are in control, that You will not lose one whom You have called?
