By the Spirit.
Romans 8:12-13, So then, brethren, we are under obligation, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh— for if you are living according to the flesh, you must die; but if deeds of the body, you will live.
The idea here is that we are “putting to death,” actively killing the deeds of sin and death. The problem is that I always think I have to do this myself; clearly He has given us the Spirit of God, our Helper, because we can’t do it on our own! If I have to do this on my own, I know I will fail. All I have to do is to remember to ask for His help in every situation.
Help me, Lord, I need Your Holy Spirit at every point today!
