Knowledge makes arrogant, but love edifies.

1 Corinthians 8:1-3, NOW concerning things sacrificed to idols, we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge makes arrogant, but love edifies. If anyone supposes that he knows anything, he has not yet known as he ought to know; but if anyone loves God, he is known by Him.

One of my favorite quotes is about the necessity of foolishness, really humility or a teachable attitude, in making new discoveries of anything. So it is with spiritual matters, a little knowledge can easily make us like the Pharisees, who made himself great in his own eyes. When we recognize our own lack of wisdom and knowledge before an all-knowing Creator who loves us more than we can imagine, we are on the right track. He loves us even in our ignorance, with all our flaws and failings; can we extend that grace to others?

We recognize our own lack of knowledge and our own failure to love as You love; thank You for loving us even when we fail because of our ignorance!
