He upholds all things.

Hebrews 1:3-4, And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power. When He had made purification of sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high; having become as much better than the angels, as He has inherited a more excellent name than they.

In a recent sermon, our pastor observed the amazing truth that even as Jesus was being tortured and crucified, He was upholding all things! He has loved us enough to lay aside His glory, to be a servant, to endure suffering ending in the cross to purify us from sin. Love like this is unknown this side of Heaven, except in Jesus Christ. He laid down His life that we might have life abundantly!
